About Us - mental Health

Brain, Lightbulb, and gears sketched with splashes of paint in vibrant colors. Living Sunder.

I wanted to find a broader way to begin sharing and writing again, after rediscovering a love of the work.

I have been a mental health advocate for the better part of the last decade. I have been giving lectures on the subject and consulting for nearly the same amount of time, and I have written endless essays, letters, anthologies, and a couple of books on the subject.

I am working on my first novel and looking forward to its release next year (2024).

I live in the Midwest with my husband and our three pups: two Pitbull mixes and a Jack Russell mix. The Jack Russell is in charge; the rest of us only live to bend to her will. I found comfort in Art Therapy and utilized a variety of art mediums to get through the most challenging portions of therapy.

I taught myself to crochet using YarnUtopia, by Nadia's youtube videos. Nadia & some of her subscribers helped me with a Mental Health project of mine a few years back.

I began crocheting tiny turtles. I called them "MHATs," Mental Health Awareness Turtles. I found out that only a select amount of items people put on Psych holds can have with them in the hospital. This is true at a global scale; however, what is also true is that given the size of the turtles and materials used, they are not considered a threat and can be given to patients in many hospital settings! So, I began shipping my "MHATs." The MHATs and their International travels only stopped when I started caring for my ailing father-in-law, who needed me as his 24/7 carer, and the COVID. When the heavy restrictions on shipping began to tighten, it became less and less possible to ship safely.
